Stakeholders

A stakeholder is an individual, group, or institution who has a “stake” or interest in the future of their community. Those who are selected are involved in the planning process of the plan early on and offer input from a community perspective.

Stakeholders were appointed by the Glynn County Board of Commissioners at a regularly scheduled meeting on January 19th.

FAQs

  • A Comprehensive Plan is a document that lays out the shared vision and goals for a community. It takes input from a variety of community sources to synthesize a plan that is both agreeable and achievable in the actions and strategies proposed. This plan is updated every five years in accordance with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs’ (DCA) guidelines so as to reevaluate what the previous plan accomplished and what needs to be revised to build off the previous successes.

  • A well-rounded Comprehensive Plan takes input from a wide range of voices from people and organizations of the community. Business leaders, environmental groups, homeowners associations, military base personnel, and everyday citizens are all encouraged to participate in public hearings, submit surveys, and volunteer for a position on the stakeholder committee whose purpose is to discuss, in finer details, what needs and opportunities the community is looking to address.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate by attending public hearings, stakeholder meetings, public listening sessions, and filling out the survey on this page about their vision for Glynn County.

  • When there is a draft available of the 2023 plan, it along with any future updates will be posted on this site for public comment. In addition to this, meeting slides and related documents will be posted below along with the final draft that is adopted by the county commission.

  • There is a timeline to the right which lays out all the steps the update process must go through in order to build a robust plan in line with DCA expectations. Tentatively, a draft is expected in July or August of 2023 and multiple revisions are expected throughout the fall of 2023.
