The Coastal Regional Commission Council

 The Coastal Regional Commission is directed by a Commission Council, a body of elected and appointed officials representing the public and private sector.

The CRC Council meetings are normally held on the second Wednesday of the month.

Who Serves on the CRC Council?

There are thirty-nine (39) members of the CRC Council. The Chairman (or their elected designee) of each county commission in the region shall serve for a period of time concurrent to their elected office. The Mayor (or their elected designee) from the largest municipality (population) in each county in the region shall serve for a period of time concurrent with their elected office term.

State-Elected Government Non-public Appointments. One (1) member of a school board or superintendent of schools and two (2) nonpublic residents of the region shall be appointed by the Governor, each for a term of two (2) years.

Non-public Appointments. One (1) non-public member shall be appointed by the Lieutenant Governor for a term of two years. One (1) non-public member shall be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives for a term of two (2) years.

Additional Non-public Appointments. To meet the requirement of various federal agencies that require nonpublic participation, there shall be a minimum of thirty-five percent (35%) non-public representatives from the private sector, chambers, post-secondary education institutions, workforce development, or labor groups. There will be one (1) non-public representative per county for a term of one (1) year and may be reappointed. Chatham County will have two additional non-public appointments, Glynn County will have one additional non-public appointment, and Liberty County will have one additional non-public appointment for a term of one (1) year and may be reappointed.
